Puppies between 4 and 16 weeks of age are in a critical stage of behavioral development known as the "socialization period". During this period puppies are learning rapidly from their interactions with the surrounding world. Therefore, it is critical that you ensure that your puppy makes positive associations with a wide variety of situations and stimuli, including different people, animals, sights, and sounds during this time. Dogs that are not sufficiently socialized during their first 4 months of life are much more likely to develop behavioral problems such as fear, anxiety, aggression, and destructive behaviors later in life. The end result of appropriate socialization and problem prevention during the socialization period is a happy, highly trainable, and overall well-adjused dog.
The best way to get your puppy started in the right direction is to enroll them in puppy class during their socialization period. Our puppy classes provide your puppy with the opportunity to interact and play with other puppies and new people in a safe and supervised environment. You will also be provided with valuable information on how to prevent many problem behaviors such as chewing, house soiling, and separation anxiety. Also, basic obedience skills based on positive training methods will be introduced. You will be amazed at how much your puppy can learn in just 6 weeks. Don't miss out on the opportunity to provide your puppy with the most critical learning experiences of its young life-- enroll in our 6-week puppy preschool today.
Our puppy classes are held on Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:00 pm at Waynedale Animal Clinic. The cost is $100 per puppy for the entire 6-week session. Puppies must be less than 18 weeks of age to participate and you must show proof of age appropriate vaccinations and at least one veterinary examination prior to beginning the program.
